An Inter-denominational service to Mark the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2023 was held at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Military Cantonment Onitsha.
In his sermon Staff Sergeant Rev Thompson Arinze, spoke on obedient as a means of activating success.
He admonished the Officers and Soldiers to always learn the virtues of obedience since it is a sure ladder to climb to success.
In a brief remarks, the Commanding Officer 14 Field Engineer Regiment Onitsha Lt Col Ayuba Nandang, who represented the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, emphasised the role of the Army in keeping Nigeria United.
He extolled the Officers’ and Men of the Nigerian Army for their commitment to duties and for actively engaging all forces of disintegration and terrorism.
The Commanding Officer 14 Field Engineer Regiment Onitsha, further urged all and sundry to continually pray for the Nigerian Army because when the chips are down Prayer Work.
Lt Col Nandang, took everyone by surprise when he spotted out physically challenged Favour Mary Edet, who was vigorously praising God and made a donation of two hundred thousand naira to him on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, the GOC and the Cantonment Commander Col MB Abubakar.
The officiating Chaplain Capt Rev Fr Victor Owah, acknowledged the fact that Favour Mary Edet, is always happy serving God which according to him made the Church to donate a wheelchair to him recently.
Another surprise was waiting for the worshippers as the Church dismissed to see the Army repairing the road leading to the three worship centres in the spirit of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration, and the joy of the worshippers knew no bounds.
