Following the inauguration of the new federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Igbo traditional spokesperson, Chief Engr Ejike Iwu, Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu, has made a passionate appeal for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
In a press statement, Chief Iwu said that Sen Tinubu who set a high standard and record as the governor of Lagos State, should equally set a high standard in Nigeria by obeying the Court ruling which discharged Mazi Kanu.
According to Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu, President Bola Tinubu should extend the joy of becoming the President to all over the nation including the South East by releasing the pro-Biafra agitator.
Onuigbo Ndigbo Gburugburu who lauded the new President’s quick intervention in the hike in fuel price as a result of subsidy removal as well as the threat to go on strike by organised labour, urged him to release the detained son of Igboland.
Continuing, the Igbo traditional spokesperson said the South East which had been encumbered and under the pains of the weekly sit-at-home every Monday, should be liberated by the release of Mazi Kanu, adding that such a gesture will never be forgotten and will be a good start towards carrying the marginalized people along in his administration.
Chief Iwu further stated that President Tinubu as a governor carved a niche for himself and urged him to tow the path of honour that will distinguish him from the previous administration which refused to obey the ruling of the judiciary in releasing the detained Kanu.
