As build – up to the November 11, 2023 governorship election continues,Imolites are not only prepared to change the current underperforming government of Chief Hope Uzodinma but also anxious to know the man who would take over and give Imo the best of governance that is free from the ravaging effects of corruption which has been the major bane of good governance in Imo since the golden years of late Chief Same Mbakwe.
The integrity loaded and transparency advocate, Ikenga Johnjude Okere, the governorship standard bearer of the Accord party in the forthcoming November 11governorship election is the man to beat. He is the man set to tackle the monstrous cancer called corruption in the Imo political and administrative stratosphere.
Ikenga Johnjude Okere, usually addressed as the Developmental Political Strategist is set to use and adopt technology as it is obtained in the developed world to prevent, curb and eradicate corruption in governance to its barest minimum. The major areas are but not restricted to only contract awards, civil service with special interest in pensions and salaries, project execution, budget processes and fiscal implementation.
Intellectually mobile and upwardly inclined Ikenga Johnjude Okere has sworn to dump the seemingly administrative tradition of past governments by shunning cronyism, mediocrity, quackery and sycophantism by appointing officials based on merit into government positions.
It will amount to gross repeatition of the obvious by saying that prevalence of mediocres in governance has been a major cause of our poor developmental level, consequentky, the Ngor Opala born boardroom guru has stated emphatically that only the best in character, competence and capacity will be given appointments and that with him as governor, marks the end of sycophants, political contractors, jobbers and hangers-on getting unmerited appointments based on mundane considerations.
In the area of infrastructure, the Accord party candidate has set modalities in place for a massive infrastructural reinvigoration and development in the state.
Imo, he noted is one of the most infrastructural deficient states, even as he noted the residents still rely on the tired infrastructures put in place about 40years ago by the late great Sam Mbakwe.
For instance, the public water system put in place 40years ago by Chief Sam Mbakwe is now moribund and abandoned except for the brief seven months in office of Hon.Emeka Ihedioha who tried to resuscitate it. Ikenga Johnjude promised to revived and reposition the public water system.
The infrastructural decay in the health and education sectors will be arrested head on by the administration of Ikenga Okere as adequate funds will be injected into these sectors while curbing corruption and instiling strictness to professionalism for achieving desired results and development.
