The Department of State Services (DSS), has asked operators and patrons of fun, hospitality and tourism centres to be cautious and scale up measures to ensure safety of their facilities during the festive period.
DSS stated this in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Dr. Peter Afunanya, the Department of State Services, National Headquarters Abuja, informed the public that it had arrested two gunmen in Kano on Thursday, 20th April, 2023.
The statement listed items seized from the duo to include two (2) AK-47 assault rifles; two (2) Empty AK47 Magazines; a red boxer motor cycle; and a sack of yams in which the guns were concealed.
It said the suspects were on transit to deliver the arms for a planned attack in one of the States in Northern Nigeria.
According to the statement, this development underscored the need for citizens to be extra vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious movements, persons or acts to the security agencies nearest to them.
The Service used the opportunity to wish Muslim faithful, peaceful and joyous Eid al-fitr celebrations while pledging to work with sister agencies and other stakeholders to put in place adequate security during and after the celebration.
