FG Commissons Science TV To Promote Development, Growth

The Federal government of Nigeria has commissioned a Broadcast Studio of the Nigeria Science, Technology and Innovation Television (NSTI-tv) in Abuja.
The broadcast studio, which is part of the implementation of the Presidential Executive Order No.5 will assist in establishing Science, Technology and Innovation in everyday life of Nigerians.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Sen. Adeleke Mamora said that Science, Technology and Innovation is the driving force to rapid socio-economic development of any nation.
The Minister, emphasized that investing in the NSTI-tv would create awareness, sustainable development and growth in the country through the STI sector.
Mamora, explained that the Science specialised Television will be a game changer for Nigerians as well as enable the citizenry to appreciate the relevance of STI in nation building.
According to him, it will ensure effective dissemination of scientific information and technological innovations in the sector, adding that the station would serve as a veritable platform to inform, educate and entertain as well as publicise scientific discoveries, inventions and achievements of various parastatals under the Ministry.
He commended President Buhari for recognising STI as indispensable in the area of providing an enabling environment for diversification of the economy by improving the budgetary allocations to the Ministry.
On his part, Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Chief Ikechukwu Ikoh said that the NSTI-tv is geared towards achieving the National Developmental goals across all sectors of the economy.
Ikoh implored Nigerians to watch the programmes and activities aired on the station so as to remain acquainted with advances and development in the STI sector.
A former Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Senator Boroffice Ajayi in his goodwill message, commended the Ministry for its unrelenting efforts in ensuring NSTI-tv is a reality, while the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Monilola Udoh, in her remarks noted the commissioning ceremony is a testimony that the Ministry has created a great platform for communicating her efforts and achievements to Nigerians and the world which will enhance the desired patronage of laudable indigenous products.
