Defence Headquarters says the call for an interim National government in the country by some citizens is mischievous and unconstitutional.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami who stated this while clarifying issues at the biweekly briefing on troops’ activities and operational successes recorded in the various theatres of operations across the six geopolitical zones of the country in the past two weeks, said the military as an institution, does not in any way support illegality and would do everything within its powers to defend the constitution of the country.
He noted that elections have ended and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which is the mandated authority has announced a president-elect hence the citizenry should jettison all forms of contrary desires.
The DMO further noted that the military alone cannot deal with the security challenges in the country hence all hands must be on deck to ensure that the fight is won head-on
He assured that the military is not resting on its oars as it is still working round the clock to ensure there is peace in the country.
Earlier, while reeling out the success story of the military in the past 2 weeks, He stated that in the South South Zone, the military had denied oil thieves the total sum of 407,542,868 (four hundred and seven million, five hundred and forty-two thousand, eight hundred and sixty) Naira
While in the South East, troops of Operation UDOKA sustained the fight against criminality with the aim of restoring peace and calm in the zone.
