As scarcity of new naira notes continue to bite hard on citizens, the Department of State Services (DSS) says it has intercepted some members of an organised syndicate involved in the sale of the new redesigned naira notes.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Department of State Services, National Headquarters, Abuja, Dr. Peter Afunanya, disclosed that in the course of its operations, in monitoring naira swap in parts of the country, it also established that some Commercial Bank officials are party to the economic malfeasance.

According to the statement, the service is consequently, warning currency racketeers to desist from the ignoble act.

It also charged appropriate regulatory authorities to step up monitoring and supervisory activities to expeditiously address the emerging trend.

The Service noted that it had ordered its commands and formations to further ensure that all persons and groups engaged in the illegal sale of the notes are identified just as it encouraged anyone with useful information relating to sale of the notes to pass same to relevant authorities.
