AFRPN To Hold Parley With Presidential Candidates

The Association of Foreign Relations Professionals of Nigeria, AFRPN, says it has concluded arrangements to organize a parley between the leadership of select political parties and the Diplomatic Community.

 

A statement jointly signed by the President of the Association, Ambassador Gani Lawal and Secretary-General, Ambassador Ridhwan Mustapha said the association is aware of the pivotal role party politics play in the formulation, articulation and implementation of Nigeria’s Foreign Policy, hence in line with its mandate to impact positively the foreign policy of Nigeria, it has formally invited the leadership of four of the contending political parties for the office of the President to rub minds with the diplomatic community.

 

The statement notes, the parley is a way of deepening understanding of the input-output system that has informed the Nigerian foreign policy options in the international arena which has served the nation well to become a leading player in Africa and the World at large.

 

The “Meet the Diplomatic Community” parley scheduled to take place in the Rotunda of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abuja will feature presidential candidates of APC, PDP, LP and NNPP.

 

It shall also have in audience members of the association, foreign envoys of all countries accredited to Nigeria.

 

Each candidate will have 15 minutes to speak and 10 minutes to field questions.

 

The chairman of the occasion will be the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University and former Vice Chancellor of University of Abuja, Professor Nuhu Yaqub, while the Moderator is a former Nigerian Ambassador to the Scandinavian countries, Ambassador Godknows Igali.
