Nigeria Defence Headquarters Reitterates Commitment To Ensure Security

Defence Media Operations has assured the citizenry that the military is taking every necessary step to safeguard the people as it is the responsibility of government.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami, who gave the assurance while clarifying issues raised at the bi-weekly briefing on troops activities and operational successes being recorded in the various operational theaters within the six geo-political zones of the country, disclosed that many hoodlums are being picked up on daily basis in various states of the federation .
According to him, there is no cause for alarm and citizens should not panic but should go about their businesses without fear as intelligence and security agencies are doing enormous amount of work to fulfill their mandate and they will continue to do so.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, acknowledged the media community for their partnership and continued cooperation with the military and other security agencies in the quest to restore peace and security to the country as well as appreciated the citizens for their support to the Armed Forces and other security agencies in the conduct of their operations, and urged them to continue to provide prompt and credible information on the activities of terrorists and other criminal elements, in their respective areas.
The Director, Defence Media Information, Major General Jimmy Akpor, on his part, advised journalists to always report from the angle of the capability of the Nigeria military to safeguard the nation and not from the angle of the U. S alert as the DSS had already given a press release and assured the populace of their readiness even before the U.S alert.
He said, the DSS release had warned citizens about the security situation as well as assured them of their readiness to safeguard the environment while advising on what to do or not to do
Major General Akpor, emphasised that there are government institutions established to cater for the environment to ensure that all Nigerians live their lives and dreams in safety such as the Armed forces, police, DSS and other paramilitary who have been working to carry out the specific and constitutional roles they have been mandated with.
According to him, the institutions that have been established to keep the environment safe will not relent, or sleep but will do their their best to ensure they deliver on their constitutional mandate as no country depends on foreign powers to keep its space safe especially as the institutions are capable, solid and would continue to do their best day and night to keep the environment safe.
