Only a very few percentage of the people are benefiting from government, and will be corrected if voted into power my government will be people driven. – Price Adwole Adeboye

As the campaigns for the 2023 presidential election commences, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had last Thursday commissioned its National Secretariat in Abuja for a smooth running of party activities.
According to the presidential candidate of the party, Prince Adewole Adeboye, who spoke with Journalists at the event, Nigerians are yarning for a better governance and that’s exactly what SDP is coming to offer them.
He said only a very few percentage of the people are benefiting from government, and will be corrected if voted into power as his government will be people driven.
“The government of national unity must have majority of Nigerians, not a government of united politicians, a government of national unity means that the people of Nigeria, 90 percent of the populace that doesn’t have the voice in government will be brought into the government, not the government of politicians from different political parties, leaving the people behind.
“The government must go to the people because power comes from the people. If you look at chapter 2 of our constitution, it creates for us, a government of constitutional unity. If you follow chapter 2 of our constitution it is impossible for you to form a government that will not be a government of unity but you must lean on the side of the people of Nigeria. For too long, Nigerians only escort a few to power.
” From 1999 till today, less down one percent of one percent of the people are benefiting, less than one percent of one percent are taking all the resources of the country and we have left 99.9 percent of Nigerians space ungoverned, so we must change direction, power must be on the side of the people, those who are inside in the state house with the president should not have priority over those who are on the farmlands, forest, highways, and marketplaces, to me, that’s what the government of national unity means, not people coming to share government’s money” Adebayo said
Adebayo, further described corruption as the major clog in the wheel of progress of Nigeria adding that the country is blessed enough for the citizens to enjoy good life but for the greed of the politicians.
“To eradicate poverty, you have to eradicate greed in government because the poverty in Nigeria is not for lack of resources. There are countries who are poor by nature and necessities, they are in the desert where there is no rain , no natural resources, the people are underdeveloped but Nigeria is the opposite.
“What we have for 1 percent is enough for one hundred percent. So what we will do when we get to power is to have a government that does not steal. Fela was right when he said authority stealing is worse than armed robbery. So, we will stop that.
“80 percent of the crude oil is being stolen now. I raised that issue and my party supported me when we did the investigation. Now we are happy that at least Nigerians are aware that the present state of our economy is not as a result of global recession, not because of lack of income, it is because the government of the day are sided with thieves to steal the resources of the country.
“Secondly, we’ll invest in man power, we’ll make sure that Nigerians have sound education, ASUU will return to school, we’ll build more universities and make the existing ones better, we’ll build Federal colleges in every of the House of Representatives Constituency, we have 360 of them, so that the young people won’t be forced to compete on state of origin.
“We’ll invest in Agriculture of which we have in abundance, we’ll invest in works so that people can get jobs, so that Accountant General of the Federation will not take 109 billions Naira and then roads that are supposed to have 50 billions whereby Fashola will be given just only 200 Millions, that will not happen in our government.
“We will also ensure that once Nigerians embrace infrastructure development, they embrace ICT, they embrace green technology, we will be able to eradicate blackouts in Nigeria within two years with the use of solar panels and green technology. We will also let Nigerians know where their resources are, I will have a rich government but poor politicians, not what we have today, whereby we have rich politicians but poor government.” The legal luminary turned politician promised
Earlier, a former Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Chief Olu Falae had said Nigeria of today is in crisis and Nigerians need an alternative to the so called big parties who rather than serving the people, are serving their pockets.
He said that only SDP has the right ideology and manifesto to rescue Nigeria and expressed confidence in the candidate of the party, Prince Adebayo Adewole, who he described as the Hope Nigerians have been waiting for.
“We may not have governors today, we may not be in Aso Rock today but I have no doubt in my mind that the government house and Aso Rock belong to the SDP tomorrow. I’m not just being sentimental, I’m saying so for one important reason, Nigeria today is in crisis. You cannot move from one town to another without the fear of being kidnapped. I myself was kidnapped for four days seven years ago on my farm.
“When I was 14 years old, I traveled from Akure to Lagos to attend secondary school by myself, no kidnappers, no problem at the age of 14. At 77 years old, I was kidnapped. That tells you, the dramatic decline in Nigeria and only a party properly so called can change it, not all these so called big parties.
“When I say they are not a party, they say they control the government, they control the federal government, they control the state government, and I tell them, when the army was in power, they controlled the government, didn’t they? But did that turn the army into a party? So, controlling the government does not define a party.
“A party is a collection of men and women who share the same ideological and political philosophy as to how to govern the society to the benefit of her people. Ask these other parties what is there philosophy, they don’t know it, what’s their manifesto? they have none. Nigerians voted for them and gave them a blank check, what did they do? they gathered all tye money in the treasury and put in their pockets. And so, things go from bad to worse.
“Many doctors have gone, many lecturers have also left. Something urgent must be done to savage the situation so that Nigeria can be better and I have no doubt that only SDP has what it takes to do that. Nigerians are looking for a party to rescue them, they have lost hope in the so called big parties, they ask serious questions about them and their candidates but it’s not so with SDP, not so with Adebayo. SDP is the game changer” falae said
