Exploring Opportunities At The US Annual College Fair 2022

“I will study in the U.S because I want to graduate in record time and incessant strike actions will not allow me graduate when I should if I study in Nigeria”.

Those were the exact words of 15 year old Remy Bethel just like other children of her age who have lost faith in the Nigeria education system.

The enthusiastic Bethel who wants to study law in the United States told me at the ongoing College Fair convened by the U.S Embassy in Abuja that abroad, she will have better facilities to study and there will be no strike.

25 schools from different States of the U.S participated in the College Fair attended by school children from various schools in the Federal Capital Territory, teachers and parents from all walks of life.

Addressing the assemblage, the Public Affairs Counselor, Embassy of the United States of America, Adnan Siddiqi, who represented the Ambassador, said it is the country’s efforts at achieving international diversity and inclusivity

He said the U.S welcomes all the talents, and creativity approach that Nigerian students bring to the American campuses.

He, however, warned that every beneficiary must leave the country at the stipulated time unless on special arrangement so as not to prevent themselves and others from benefitting in the future.

Siddiqi, said schooling in the U.S will create understanding and cultural affinity between Nigeria and the United States.

According to him, no one country has it all as every country of the world has its own challenges in the education sector adding that the U.S seems better off owing to numerous discussions amongst stakeholders to find solutions.

For a parent, Mr. Donatus Anumba, it is the duty of parents to nurture their children and give them the best opportunity to excel in life and for this parent, seeking admission and scholarship outside the shores of this country is the best option for excellence.

He said children are treasures from God hence parents should always support them in the pursuit of their dreams without interruptions or distractions saying that many opportunities abound in studying in the United States of America especially with the scholarship.
