Nigeria Troops Recover Over One Million Litres Of Stolen Crude Oil In Two Weeks

    The Directorate of Defence Media Operation says Nigerian troops have recovered one million, one hundred and seven thousand, four hundred (1,107,400) litres of stolen crude oil.

    Also recovered were four hundred and fifty six thousand four hundred and fifty (456,450) litres of AGO and six thousand two hundred and fifty (6,250) litres of PMS.

    The recoveries were all made in the Niger Delta region between 19th May and 2nd June, 2022.

    Addressing journalists at its bi-weekly press briefing on the operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other SecurityAgencies, the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Bernard Oyeuko, said troops also discovered and destroyed 40 illegal refineries, 165 metal storage tanks, 72 ovens, 23 dug out pits, 5 wooden boats, 6 trucks, 3 outbound engines, 1 AK 47 rifle in raids within the period.

    Major General Oyeuko said the security situation across the six geo-political zones of the country remains dynamic but there has been sustained efforts to build on the success achieved so far in the various theatres.

    According to him, all recovered items and as well as 21 criminals apprehended during the operations, were handed over to appropriate authorities for further action.

    He commended the support of the media, their show of professionalism in carrying out their duties, and for being objective and unbiased in their reportage.

    He noted that National Security is a collective responsibility for every Nigerian; urging citizens to remain supportive as that is the only way to ensure a united, peaceful and prosperous nation that will be a source of pride to all.

    The recent achievement is the cumulative effort of operations Hadin Kai, Safe Haven, Haderin Daji, Whirl Stroke and Octopus Grip.
