Respite seem to have returned to the Zamfara State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as he Governor Bello Muhammad Matawale and the immediate-past Governor of the state, Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari on Monday reported to the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Abdulahi Adamu and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) that they have reconciled their political differences.
The reconciliation followed the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Sen. Abdulahi Adamu-led NWC and the Progressive Governors Forum to quell the crisis rocking the Zamfara State chapter of the APC which had been embroiled in a protracted political crisis.
Speaking at the meeting, APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdulahi Adamu, said they have agreed to work together for the success of the party and they have informed the President of the progress that they are making, praising Almighty God that they have been able to reach an accord between the former governor, current governor and their esteemed followers adding that they have every reason to thank God and believe that the 2023 General Election in Zamfara State is a given for the APC.
“My advice is that we should be careful not to go back to where we are coming from. We must learn to respect one another, respect the views of our party followers who are our greatest assets. To the former and current governor, you have a duty to sustain the spirit of understanding, togetherness and teamwork. On behalf of my colleagues, I commend this very useful agreement that we have reached.” he said.
Zamfara state Governor, Bello Muhammad Matawale on his part, thanked the Chairman for playing a fatherly role and Mr. President for intervening in the Zamfara crisis as well as the Governor of Kebbi State who he said, asks him everyday, to reconcile with his brother. He noted that Abdul’aziz is his friend.
He said, “We thank God that today we are together and I know many people will not believe. Most of those that don’t want us to be together have their selfish reasons but God has done it and today we are together. We thank the leadership of the party for bringing us together to work together not just for Zamfara State but for the Country and the Party”.
For the immediate-past Zamfara Governor, Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, the closest organs are the teeth and tongue and sometimes they disagree, sometimes they agree so many things have happened which we have decided to put behind them as they do not have any other State aside Zamfara.
According to him, they have a lot of work to do and God seeing their intention, will make it easy for them and they have to do the right thing for the good of their people and state. He said came to an understanding and decided to meet their people and tell them that the state is bigger than any of them and as such, any interest must see the state as number one.
Governor, Abubarkar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State who is also the Chairman, Progressive Governors Forum, expressed pleasure that the duo who he described as very strong believers have demonstrated faith by knowing that Satan has done his bit but their faith remained unshaken and they are witnessing the reconciliation.
He prayed God to continue to elevate both of them expressing joy that the two people who should be working together are actually working together and the party, Zamfara State and Country will be better for it.
