The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has released the final list of candidates for the Osun State governorship election, scheduled for Saturday July 16, 2022.
The List of 15 party flag bearers and their deputies had been made public in a statement by the Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Festus Okoye Esq, on Tuesday, 12th April, 2022.
The list had been published in the INEC State and Local Government offices in Osun State, as well as its official website and social media platforms for public information In compliance with the Electoral Act 2022, following the close of nominations by Political Parties.
The list of Political parties and their candidates released were: Accord Party (A) – Akiande Akanmu Ogunbiyi, Deputy- Jimoh Mukaila Adekunle; African Action Congress (AAC) – Awojide Peter Segun, Deputy – Fakiyesi Oluwadare Gideon; African Democratic Party (ADP) –Kehinde Munirudeen Olumuyiwa A. Atanda, Deputy-Agbaje Sewande Claret; and All Progressives Congress (APC) – Adegboyega Isiaka Oyetola, Deputy – Benedict Olugboyega Alabi.
Others are: Allied Peoples Movement (APM)- Awoyemi Oluwatayo Lukuman, Deputy – Akinloye Kabiru Adesola; Action Peoples Party (APP)- Adebayo Adeolu Elisha, Deputy- Akinpelu Yinka Hezekiah; Boot Party (BP)- Adeleke Adesoji Masilo Aderemi Adedapo, Deputy – Lateef Kehinde Adenike; Labour Party (LP) – Yussuff Sulaimon Lasun, Deputy – Adeola Adekunle Atanda; New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)- Rasaq Oyelami Saliu, Deputy – Olatunbosun Olusolape; and National Rescue Movement (NRM)- Abede Adetona Samuel, Deputy – Amoo Fasilat Omolara.
Also on the list are: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – Adeleke Adedamola Jackson Nurudeen, Deputy – Adewusi Kola Adegboyega; Peoples Redemption Party (PRP)- Ayowole Olubusuyi Adedeji, Deputy- Olowu Emmanuel Aiyedun; Social Democratic Party (SDP)- Omigbodun Oyegoke Akinrinola, Deputy – Oni Mukaila Adesoye; Young Progressives Party (YPP)- Ademola Bayonle Adeseye, Deputy – Stella Yemi Adeagbo; and  Zenith Labour Party (ZLP)- Adesuyi John Olufemi, Deputy – Fakolade Grace Kemi.
Political Parties were advised to notify the Commission in writing in case of omissions on the list. The statement reads “the Commission wishes to remind political parties that under Section 32(2) of the Electoral Act 2022, any party that observes that the name of its candidate is missing from the list “shall notify the Commission in writing, signed by its National Chairman and Secretary, supported with an affidavit not later than 90 days to the election”.
Also, the attention of parties was drawn to Section 32(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, which provides that failure to notify the Commission “shall not be ground to invalidate the election”.
