If feelers received from the camp of Hon Precious Nkemdimma Opara who declared for the Owerri-West Assembly seat is anything to go Hon Dele Onyemaechi is as good as having lost his seat.
The aspirant who made his declaration amidst mammoth crowd that thronged the Ihiagwa Civic Centre expressed his commitment to give effective representation to the people drawing from his services to the people.
Recounting some of his efforts Opara disclosed that he was the market chairman of Ihiagwa market for seven years and was the brain behind the market. He also served in several committees in Ihiagwa and resigned from his Julius Berger job in January 2001 after a brief business stint in Lagos.
In his words, “I am with you, the masses. When I go in I will do well for Owerri-West. It is the turn of my clan and after consultations with my mentor and supporters I got the go ahead to run. Besides, my ward exco, LGA leaders women group and youth group have lent their support.
“I know what is involved, my God cleared me. Before I use to keep quiet but now I am leading the battle’’
The highlight of the event was the donation of a fully furnished PDP Ihiagwa Ward 6 Secretariat with 500 seating capacity with music equipment as well as the declaration of about 200 persons for the People’s Democratic Party, some of who got registered immediately.
In response, PDP Ward 7 chairman, Nekede stated that he was impressed because he has capacity. It was same commendation from the chairman Ihiagwa market square. ‘’We will support him in all ramifications’’.
