The Majority Leader of Imo state House of Assembly, Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi alongside members representing Oru-east and Ngorokpala state constituencies, Hon. Chiagozie Nwaneri and Hon. Blyden Amajirionwu, have been appointed the chairmen House committee on lands/Housing, Works and Parks and LGA/Chieftaincy/Autonomous Communities respectively.
The speaker, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibeh, made the pronouncement during plenary on Thursday.
Their appointment followed the spontaneous desolution of a few committees which some suspended house members were chairing.
During the interview with the Majority Leader, Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi, said that his appointment came to him as a surprise.
He opined that he is about to air his voice because his committee was desolved before the speaker mentioned his name as the new House Committee chairman on Lands and Housing and It took me by surprise and also stated how happy to reappointed to chair another committee. This is quite commendable on the side of the speaker. I least expected this.
He described Rt. Hon. Ibe , a very seasoned legislator who has a unique way of doing things.
“He is a man who doesn’t maker mistakes like the former speaker.
He added that since we “Elected him as the speaker, Assembly has witnessed tremendous change and progress. we are no longer begin plenary late and members are happy being led by him”.
He promised to support his leadership, and also pray to God to give him Grace to manage the two offices of the Majority Leader and House Committee on Lands/Housing, which he said, he has been productive as the ML, and would always utilize the day properly attend to his primary duty as a legislator after he must have give due attention to other responsibility.
Hon. Blyden Amajirionwu who chairs the LGA/Chieftaincy/Autonomous Communities, said that he will put to bare his wealth of experience in his first ever assignment as a legislator.
He further assured that, being already in governance, he would add great value to the growth and development of state.
He thanked the speaker for finding him worthy to chair such a vast committee, promised to show good result.
