Qatar Airways has begun a direct flight from Doha, Qatar to Kano, Nigeria.
In a speech at the inaugural ceremony, the Nigeria Ambassador to Qatar, Yakubu Ahmed expressed pleasure that Qatar Airways made a wise decision by accepting his request to expan
d its operations to major commercial cities in Nigeria and Kano being amongst the most densely populated cities in the country and the commercial capital of Northern Nigeria was chosen.
He noted that it is part of his cardinal responsibilities to promote political, economic, and socio-cultural partnerships that will lead to the realisation of mutual benefits which he believes strongly that the new arrangement will bring the people of Nigeria and Qatar closer.
This, according to the Ambassador, will give them opportunity to interact and explore areas of common interests which will invariably lead to strengthened interactions, and building of strong bonds that will flourish.
Ambassador Ahmed, disclosed that since the beginning of his diplomatic assignment in Doha, he has received several enquiries from both Nigeria and Qatar about various fields of human endeavours saying such enquiries led to the establishment of a sustainable win-win cooperation.
He pledged his readiness to provide the necessary support in any area of need in order to ensure that the venture is sustained and achieves the desired objective.
