The Imo State Butchers Association ,Somachi Chapter, has berated the government of Imo state for her failure to provide the necessary facilities in various Abattoirs in the state, stressing that such has seriously affected the free-running of their services ,
The Assistant Secretary of the Union, Hon,Victus A.Okoro, stated this in Owerri recently while interacting with some newsmen shortly after its held meeting with the Commissioner for Livestock Farming , Dr. Anthony Mgbeahuruike.
Hon. Okoro unfolded that the union had earlier written numerous letters to both the past and present government in that regard, but nothing was done. He expressed great fury over the indiscriminate collection
Of levies from the butchers by the Government.
Okoro also stated that after much endless wait of his members’ for the desired provision of those important facilities
such as Slab, Bore -Hole and toilets by the government,the association at a point taxed themselves and made those necessities available and thereafter requested for government re-inbursement which did not materialize.
Meanwhile,the Commissioner, has assured the members of the association to continue to support the administration of Senator Hope Uzodimma in his efforts to reposition the state Abattoirs through the interface he.held with the
Imo butchers.
