NCDMB Woos 100 Chinese Manufacturers For Nigeria’s Oil, Gas Industry
Nigeria is seeking to turn its growing relationship with China from a buyer-seller arrangement into long-term industrial partnerships that deliver local manufacturing, technology transfer and investment.
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) made the pitch to more than 100 Chinese Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) during the 15th China Shale Oil and Gas Summit in Chengdu, China.
The summit, held from 20 to 23 September 2026, provided a platform for Nigeria to showcase investment opportunities in oil and gas manufacturing, technology and services.
Representing NCDMB Executive Secretary, Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Board’s Director of Project Certification and Authorisation Division, Austin Uzoka, urged Chinese manufacturers to establish production, assembly and service operations in Nigeria.
He said the Nigerian Oil and Gas Content Development Act provides patronage opportunities for equipment manufacturing facilities established in the country, while the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme offers a platform for industrial investment.
A business-to-business session involving Nigerian industry stakeholders and over 100 Chinese manufacturers also explored local production, supply-chain integration, technology development and market access.
NCDMB said the engagement generated interest among Chinese companies seeking to establish business relationships and participate in Nigeria’s expanding oil and gas manufacturing ecosystem.
The Board said the Chengdu engagement reflects its broader effort to move Nigeria’s local content agenda from participation to manufacturing, technology ownership and regional competitiveness.
