TCN Rehabilitates Four Vandalised Towers On Afam-Elelenwo 132kV Line
The repeated vandalism of critical transmission infrastructure is putting additional pressure on Nigeria’s power system, with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) now rehabilitating four towers damaged along the Afam-IPP-Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line.
TCN said Towers T50 to T53 were vandalised after tower members were removed and carted away by suspected vandals.
The damage was discovered on August 6, 2026, by lines engineers from TCN’s Port Harcourt Region.
According to the company, the latest incident is the fifth vandalism attack on the same transmission line in recent times, underscoring the persistent threat to the reliability of electricity transmission infrastructure.
TCN said rehabilitation work is ongoing to restore the affected towers and strengthen the integrity of the transmission line.
The company also called on stakeholders, communities and relevant authorities to work together to curb the vandalism of transmission facilities, warning that such attacks threaten the stability and reliability of the national grid.
