Gwagwalada Chairman Awards University Scholarships To Late Health Director’s Four Children
The death of a public health official has prompted a lasting gesture of support from the Gwagwalada Area Council, with its Chairman, Alhaji Kassim Mohammed, awarding scholarships to the four children of the late Director of Primary Health Department, Dr Adeniran Adeyemi.
The scholarship, announced during a condolence visit to the family in Gwagwalada, Abuja, will cover the children’s education up to university level.
Mohammed also announced a ₦1 million donation to support the bereaved family, describing the late Dr Adeyemi as a hardworking and dedicated officer whose contributions to healthcare delivery and the development of the council would be remembered.
He said the deceased was also known for his philanthropy and humanitarian support for less privileged residents in Gwagwalada.
Receiving the Chairman on behalf of the family, a close associate of the deceased, Pharmacist Dapo Adebosin, thanked Mohammed for the scholarship and financial assistance.
Dr Adeyemi died on Sunday at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, after a brief illness. He served as Director of Primary Health Department until his death.
Condolence visits by the Chairman’s wife, council executives, legislators, colleagues, associates and friends have continued.
The family is expected to announce burial arrangements later.
