Army Rescues 33 Kidnapped Passengers In Zamfara
The swift intervention of Nigerian Army troops has thwarted another abduction attempt in Zamfara State, highlighting the growing security pressure on terrorists operating along vulnerable travel routes.
Troops of the 1 Brigade, Forward Operating Base Tsafe, rescued 33 passengers abducted by terrorists while travelling through Magazu Village in Tsafe Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out at about 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, followed credible intelligence on the abduction.
The troops reportedly intercepted the terrorists as they moved the victims towards an unknown destination and engaged them with effective fire.
Unable to withstand the military pressure, the terrorists abandoned the passengers and fled into nearby bushes.
The rescued victims were secured as troops launched a follow-up search for the fleeing attackers.
The Army said no soldier was killed or injured during the operation, while efforts continue to track the terrorists and prevent further attacks along the route.
The successful rescue underscores the importance of timely intelligence and rapid military response in protecting commuters and disrupting kidnapping operations in the state.
