Troops Foil Terrorist Road Blockade In Kebbi, Recover Two Motorcycles
Swift military action has once again disrupted attempts by armed groups to threaten movement along a key route in Kebbi State, underscoring ongoing efforts to keep major roads safe from terrorist and bandit attacks.
Troops conducting counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations on Friday repelled suspected terrorists who had blocked the Wasagu–Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area, forcing them to flee and abandon two motorcycles.
Security sources said the troops acted on credible intelligence that armed terrorists had mounted a road blockade, posing a danger to commuters and nearby communities.
On reaching the scene, the soldiers engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle. Unable to withstand the troops’ superior firepower, the terrorists fled, leaving behind two motorcycles.
The troops pursued the fleeing suspects along their escape route to prevent them from regrouping but made no further contact.
Military authorities said the operation reflects the sustained offensive against terrorist and bandit groups in the North-West, reaffirming their commitment to protecting lives, securing major roads and dismantling criminal networks across the country.
