In a move aimed at boosting morale and rewarding dedication within the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s successor, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across the country.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the promotion exercise cuts across commands and formations nationwide and forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance personnel welfare, professionalism and career progression within the Force.

A breakdown of the promotions shows that 165 Sergeants were elevated to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals promoted to Sergeant, while 17,714 Constables advanced to the rank of Corporal.

The police leadership described timely promotion as a critical component of its human resource management strategy, noting that it serves as a key motivation for officers to remain committed to their constitutional responsibilities.

IGP Disu congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to view their advancement as a call to greater responsibility, discipline and professionalism.

He also charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force by serving with integrity, respecting human rights and remaining committed to the rule of law.

The Force reaffirmed its commitment to recognising hard work, rewarding excellence and strengthening institutional capacity in line with global best practices in policing.
