ECOWAS Wrestling Tournament Returns As Gambia Hosts TOLAC 2026

In a region striving to strengthen unity through culture and sport, the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, is set to stage the 14th edition of the ECOWAS African Wrestling Tournament (TOLAC 2026) in Banjul from May 15 to 17.

The annual tournament hosted by The Gambia, will bring together some of West Africa’s finest traditional wrestlers in a celebration of African heritage, youth development and regional integration.

ECOWAS said the competition reflects its continued commitment, through its Centre for Youth and Sports Development, to promoting African cultural values, social cohesion and unity across member states using sport as a tool for diplomacy and cooperation.

The three-day event is expected to attract athletes, officials and cultural enthusiasts from across the sub-region, further positioning traditional wrestling as a symbol of shared identity and pride in West Africa.
