Troops Bust Illegal Arms Factory, Recover AK-47 Rifles In Kebbi
Cutting off the supply of illegal weapons has become a critical front in the fight against terrorism, with security forces intensifying efforts to dismantle criminal networks that arm violent groups across Nigeria’s North-West.
Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing syndicate and recovered five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles during a targeted operation in Kebbi State.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops raided a concealed compound used by the suspects to manufacture and supply locally made firearms to terrorist groups.
The operation led to the arrest of two suspected arms manufacturers and suppliers.
Military authorities said the raid, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, marks another significant breakthrough in efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics and curb the proliferation of illicit weapons across the North-West.
The suspects are currently in military custody undergoing interrogation, while investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the syndicate, their financiers and collaborators to dismantle the entire illegal arms supply network.
The Theatre Command commended the professionalism of the troops and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence, stressing that public support remains crucial to defeating criminal elements and improving security in the region.
