Train 7 Nears Completion As NLNG, NCDMB Deepen Local Content Drive, Create 16,000 Jobs
Nigeria’s drive to maximise the economic value of its vast gas resources has received a fresh boost as the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and NLNG Limited renewed their commitment to expanding local content and strengthening indigenous participation across the oil and gas sector.
The renewed pledge was made during a courtesy visit by NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Adeleye Falade, to the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, at the Board’s liaison office in Lagos.
Falade announced that the company’s Train 7 project has reached 90 per cent completion, with pre-commissioning activities already underway ahead of its planned commissioning in 2027. The project is expected to increase NLNG’s production capacity by 35 per cent.
He disclosed that the project has generated about 16,000 direct jobs, contributing to improved livelihoods, reduced insecurity and wider socio-economic development.
Falade reaffirmed NLNG’s commitment to deepening Nigerian Content through stronger partnerships with NCDMB, focusing on vendor development, skills enhancement, technology transfer, local procurement and greater value retention within the country.
Responding, Ogbe congratulated Falade on his appointment and assured him of the Board’s support. He also urged NLNG to strengthen its backing for the Brass Shipyard project, describing it as a strategic infrastructure initiative that would boost local capacity, create jobs and benefit Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
A statement jointly signed by Sophia Horsfall, General Manager, External Relations & Sustainable Development, NLNG, and Dr Obinna Ezeobi, General Manager, Corporate Communications Division, NCDMB, said the meeting reinforced both organisations’ shared commitment to advancing Nigerian Content and unlocking greater economic opportunities from the nation’s gas sector.
