Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Rescue Three Kidnap Victims, Destroy Bandit Camp In Zamfara
A sustained military offensive against banditry in Zamfara State has yielded fresh gains, with troops neutralising terrorists, rescuing kidnapped victims and destroying a criminal hideout in separate operations across the state.
As security forces intensify efforts to restore peace across Nigeria’s North-West, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded another breakthrough in the fight against banditry in Zamfara State.
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, neutralised terrorists, rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered weapons and logistics during operations conducted in Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas.
Security sources disclosed that the troops, while on a fighting patrol through Birnin Saba, Yanbuki and Sabon Garin Daudawa communities on 12 June 2026, engaged a group of terrorists operating in Yanbuki District.
During the firefight, one terrorist was neutralised, while troops recovered rifles, four loaded magazines, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, two MP3 players, a woodland camouflage trouser and an inner vest.
The troops continued their advance towards Sabon Garin Daudawa, forcing the fleeing terrorists to abandon their camp.
The enclave was subsequently cleared and completely destroyed, denying the criminals a base for future operations.
In a separate operation along the Shinkafi, Moriki axis, troops ambushed another group of terrorists, neutralising one suspect and recovering an AK-47 rifle, five magazines, a Baofeng communication radio, two motorcycles and assorted charms.
The military also rescued three kidnapped victims during the operations.
The victims are receiving appropriate care while arrangements are being made to reunite them with their families.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations across Zamfara and the wider North-West region until terrorist and bandit networks are dismantled and lasting peace is restored to affected communities.
