Remi Tinubu Empowers 2,000 Women, Unveils ICT Centre In Ekiti
Empowering women and expanding digital opportunities took centre stage in Ekiti State as Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, strengthened efforts to support grassroots development through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
During a working visit to the state, Senator Tinubu inaugurated the TETFUND-sponsored Renewed Hope Initiative ICT Experience Centre at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, aimed at boosting digital skills and innovation among young Nigerians.
The First Lady, who was accompanied by the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, members of the RHI Governing Board, and First Ladies from across the country, was received by Ekiti State First Lady, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji.
A major highlight of the visit was the symbolic presentation of a cheque to support 2,000 women running small-scale businesses in Ekiti State.
Under the initiative, each beneficiary is expected to receive N50,000 to strengthen their enterprises and improve their livelihoods.
Also present was the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, who joined the delegation in advancing the programme’s objectives of economic empowerment and community development.
The visit underscores the Renewed Hope Initiative’s commitment to improving the welfare of women, promoting entrepreneurship, and expanding access to digital opportunities across Nigeria.
