US Hails Nigeria’s Air Force Readiness As AH-1Z Gunships Near Delivery
Nigeria’s push to modernise its airpower is gaining international confidence, and the United States has just given the Nigerian Air Force a big thumbs up.
At a high-level engagement in Abuja, a US Government delegation led by Robert Galan of PMA-276 praised the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its strong preparedness ahead of the delivery of AH-1Z attack helicopters.
The Americans commended the readiness of NAF facilities and the detailed planning already in place to receive, integrate and sustain the new fleet.
Representing the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdullahi, assured the US team that all technical, operational and logistical arrangements were being finalised to ensure the helicopters become operational immediately upon delivery.
Beyond the hardware, the talks highlighted growing Nigeria–US defence cooperation, built on shared security goals and professional standards.
The praise signals growing international confidence in the NAF’s modernisation drive, and a potential boost to Nigeria’s airpower as the country intensifies efforts to tackle security threats and strengthen national stability.
