Kurmin Wali Abduction: Police Confirm Incident, Launch Full Rescue Operation

In moments of crisis, clarity can be as important as security. That was the delicate balance the Nigeria Police Force sought to maintain following conflicting reports of an abduction in Kurmin Wali, a remote community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Nigeria Police Force has now confirmed that the abduction incident did occur, after initial uncertainty triggered by disputes over the report during a meeting of the Kaduna State Security Council convened by the state governor.

According to a press statement issued in Abuja on Monday, comments earlier made by the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police were aimed at preventing public panic while security agencies carried out field verification.

The Force clarified that the remarks were not a denial of the incident but a cautious response pending confirmation of details such as the identities and number of victims involved.

Following confirmation from operational units and intelligence sources, the Police said coordinated security operations have been activated in collaboration with other security agencies, with priority placed on rescuing the victims and restoring calm to the area.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the deployment of critical operational and intelligence assets to Kajuru and surrounding communities.

These include tactical units, intensified patrols, and targeted search-and-rescue missions to safeguard lives and property.

The Police appealed to the public and the media to exercise patience, rely on official updates, and avoid speculation that could compromise ongoing operations or heighten fear.

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Force assured Nigerians that regular updates would be provided as efforts to secure the victims continue.
