Anambra Police Smash Child Trafficking Den, Rescue 33 Girls In Daring Aguleri Raid
In a chilling reminder of the dangers faced by vulnerable children, Anambra State Police operatives have dismantled a suspected child trafficking ring, rescuing 33 underage girls from a hideout in Aguleri.
The breakthrough followed a distress alert received by the Police Command Control Room over the disappearance of three girls abducted from Ebonyi State months ago.
Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, stormed a residence on Emma Pigin Road, where the victims were believed to be held.
The operation led to the arrest of a 37-year-old woman, Ifeoma Success Anthony, while the girls, including Divine Mbam (14), Nwagu Favour (15) and Oke Blessing (18), missing since September 26, 2025, were safely rescued.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the building was allegedly used as a hub for child trafficking and prostitution.
The property is said to belong to one Mrs Ngozi Nnanyelugo, 45, who is currently on the run, with police intensifying efforts to apprehend her and dismantle the wider network.
The Anambra State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children and urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid crime-fighting efforts, assuring that investigations are ongoing and updates will follow.
