Abaribe Demands Answers Over Troop Withdrawal Before Kebbi School Kidnapping

In a country where communities cling to the hope that security forces stand between them and danger, one unanswered question now hangs heavily in the air: Who ordered the troops to leave?

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently investigate the withdrawal of military personnel from a Kebbi school, an action taken shortly before bandits stormed the premises and abducted students. The timing, he suggested, is too troubling to ignore.

During a parliamentary session, Abaribe referenced a claim made by the Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, who alleged that security operatives stationed at the school were instructed to pull out, creating the exact window the attackers exploited.

“The Governor of Kebbi said someone ordered the troops out, and people were kidnapped,” Abaribe said, his frustration echoing through the chamber. “Till today, nobody in Nigeria knows what happened. No questions have been asked.”

The tension lies in the silence, no explanations, no accountability, just a void where answers should be.

Abaribe pressed further, insisting the President must show leadership by identifying the officer responsible for the order and taking decisive action.

Without this, he warned, similar breaches will repeat themselves, deepening public fear and eroding trust in the nation’s security system.

His words landed like a ticking clock, reminding lawmakers that every delay increases the risk of another avoidable tragedy.

And as the Senate moved on to other matters, one question still lingered, just as it did at the start: Who gave the order, and why?
