ECOWAS Deepens Global Ties As Seven New Ambassadors Present Credentials
In a period marked by shifting geopolitical priorities and growing demands for regional cooperation, ECOWAS is strengthening its international alliances to better navigate shared challenges.
This commitment was underscored on Thursday as seven newly appointed Ambassadors formally presented their Letters of Credence to the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr Omar Alieu Touray, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
The envoys, representing Pakistan, Ethiopia, Greece, Spain, India, UNIDO and UNICEF, pledged to deepen collaboration with ECOWAS in areas central to the region’s stability and progress, including peace and security, regional integration, and sustainable development.
Dr Touray welcomed the diplomats, reaffirming ECOWAS’s resolve to build stronger, people-centred partnerships.
He noted that global challenges demand collective action grounded in shared humanity, stressing that “if we prioritise humanity, we can tackle global challenges more effectively.”
The ceremony highlighted ECOWAS’s expanding diplomatic footprint as it continues to position West Africa as a strategic partner in global development and cooperation.
