Troops Neutralise Nine Terrorists, Recover ₦5 Million Ransom In Borno Operations

In a decisive blow to insurgents in the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised nine Boko Haram terrorists and recovered about ₦5 million in ransom money during coordinated fighting patrols in Magumeri and Gajiram general areas of Borno State.

The operations, conducted by the 109 Special Forces Battalion, followed credible intelligence on terrorist movements around Goni Dunari in Magumeri Local Government Area.

According to military sources, the insurgents, travelling in two vehicles with 24 foot fighters, were spotted setting houses ablaze and terrorising locals before troops swiftly engaged them.

After a four-hour tactical pursuit spanning roughly 92 kilometres, troops launched a fierce offensive that left five terrorists dead, with several others fleeing with gunshot wounds.

Items recovered included an AK-47 rifle, magazines, ammunition, a dagger, and a mobile phone.

In a separate encounter along the Gajiram-Bolori-Mile 40-Gajiganna axis, motorcycle-mounted troops clashed with insurgents near Zundur village, killing four and rescuing two abducted civilians Modu Kinnami, 55, and Bukar, 57, both from Guzamala.

The troops also recovered a blue pickup vehicle, mobile phones, fuel, and ₦4.35 million, believed to be ransom money.

The Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, through its Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, confirmed that no troop casualties were recorded.

He added that further operations are ongoing to sustain pressure on the terrorists and deny them freedom of movement.
