CDS Reassures On National Security As Northern Bridge Builders Forum Visits Defence Headquarters
In a climate where public confidence in security institutions is often tested, gestures of solidarity can carry powerful weight.
That was the atmosphere at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, when the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, received members of the Northern Bridge Builders Forum on a courtesy visit.
Led by Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya, the forum praised the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for their role in restoring peace and stability across the country.
Senator Ikenya particularly highlighted the return of farmers to their fields and the boost to agricultural productivity as tangible results of improved security.
He also distanced the forum from what he described as “uninformed criticisms” of the military, pointing to the improved safety along the Abuja–Kaduna highway as a clear demonstration of the AFN’s success.
In his response, General Musa thanked the group for their encouragement and reaffirmed the military’s determination to safeguard the nation.
He described the forum’s diverse membership as “patriotic Nigerians building bridges of peace and unity,” and assured them that the AFN would continue to work tirelessly in defending the lives and property of citizens.
The meeting underscored the growing partnership between civil groups and the military in strengthening Nigeria’s collective security framework.
