MNJTF, OPHK Commanders Storm Lake Chad For Joint Operational Visit
The Force Commander of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Godwin Mutkut, and the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, have carried out a joint operational assessment in Baga, Borno State.
The high-level visit to Sector 3 on Wednesday focused on strengthening counter-terrorism operations in the Lake Chad waterways, ensuring effective use of platforms, and denying terrorists freedom of action.
Commanders received detailed briefings from Brigadier General Emmanuel Agada of the 403 Amphibious Brigade and Commodore Peter Yilme of the Naval Base Lake Chad on strategies deployed to secure the waterways and safeguard economic activities.
Maj Gen Mutkut emphasised the importance of coordination, vigilance, and regional cooperation, noting that peace in the Lake Chad Basin is crucial for all neighbouring countries.
Maj Gen Abubakar praised troops for their commitment and urged them to prioritise security for farming and fishing communities while maintaining professionalism and alertness.
The visit featured a tour of operational facilities, signing of the visitors’ book, exchange of souvenirs, and a group photograph.
