Collapsed Bridge Forces Diversion On Katsina–Batsari Route
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a travel advisory following the collapse of a bridge along the Katsina–Batsari road, just metres from Salbak Filling Station near Shagari Lowcost, after a heavy downpour on Saturday night, 9 August 2025.
Sector Commander CC Maxwell Lede, who conducted an on-site inspection on Sunday, confirmed that the damaged section has been closed to traffic and cordoned off by FRSC personnel for public safety.
Motorists travelling from Katsina to Batsari are advised to use Ring Road via Al-Qalam University, while those heading from Batsari to Katsina should take the Army Barracks–Jibia Road.
The Corps cautioned drivers to steer clear of the collapsed site, particularly during rainy or low-visibility conditions, to prevent accidents.
The FRSC has also called on the media to help raise public awareness, stressing that “road safety is a shared responsibility.”
