Nigeria Hails Jamaica On 61st Independence Anniversary, Pledges Stronger Ties
Nigeria has extended warm congratulations to the Republic of Jamaica as the Caribbean nation celebrates its 61st Independence Anniversary, highlighting shared history, cultural bonds, and a mutual commitment to the progress of the African diaspora.
In a goodwill message released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria’s Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, praised Jamaica’s achievements in governance, education, sport, and sustainable development, describing them as a source of inspiration across Africa and the Caribbean.
The message, addressed to Jamaica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, celebrated the long-standing friendship between both nations, rooted in a shared heritage and a vision for global peace and prosperity.
“Nigeria remains committed to strengthening ties with Jamaica,” Ambassador Tuggar stated, “especially in trade, education, tourism, sport, and cultural exchange – for the mutual benefit of our people.”
He also expressed hope for even deeper cooperation on global platforms such as the Commonwealth and the United Nations, where both nations continue to champion common goals.
As Jamaica marks this milestone, Nigeria joins in celebration – with pride, unity, and renewed purpose for a stronger partnership ahead.
