How Edo Central Received Gov. Okpebholo For Supreme Court Ruling
It was jubilation galore in Udomi, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State at the weekend, as residents rolled out the drums to welcome their son, Governor Monday Okpebholo, following his Supreme Court victory.
The Governor, who was affirmed as the duly elected leader of Edo State, arrived his ancestral hometown to a rousing reception by elated supporters, party faithful, market women, youth groups, and community leaders.
The event, which held at Udomi Primary School, was charged with excitement and gratitude.
Addressing the cheering crowd, Governor Okpebholo expressed deep appreciation to the people of Edo State for their unwavering support throughout the election and subsequent legal tussles.
“We thank God for the victory at the election, tribunal, Appeal Court, and finally, the Supreme Court. The mandate given to us by Edo people has been reaffirmed at all levels,” he said.
With the legal hurdles now behind him, the Governor pledged to intensify efforts in delivering on his promises. “This is the time for work. We are determined to bring real development to our people and will ensure transparency and accountability in all we do,” he added.
Acknowledging the difficult times many Edo residents are currently facing, Governor Okpebholo urged for unity, assuring that “together, the challenges will be surmounted.”
The Governor was accompanied by top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Umar Musa Ikhilor; Commissioner for Finance, Emmanuel Okoebo; and APC Senatorial Leader for Edo Central, Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe, among others.
The visit marked a symbolic homecoming and a new chapter for the Okpebholo administration, with the Governor now fully set to focus on governance and development across Edo State.
