Police Rescue Kidnap Victims, Seize Ammunition In Nationwide Crime Crackdown
Nigeria Police recorded fresh operational successes across several states, underscoring the scale of the country’s security challenges while highlighting intensified efforts to tackle kidnapping, arms trafficking and organised crime.
In an operational update released on Friday, the Force said officers rescued four kidnapped students and another victim in separate operations in Ogun State, while an abducted child was rescued from suspected traffickers in Jigawa, where two suspects were arrested.
Security operatives also intercepted major arms movements, arresting two suspected gun runners in Sokoto with 870 rounds of live ammunition and another suspect in Nasarawa linked to the illegal supply of 251 rounds of AK-47 ammunition.
Other operations led to the arrest of a murder suspect in Osun, suspected kidnappers in Ondo and Ebonyi, 37 suspected cultists in Ebonyi, 22 suspects over a communal clash in Benue, and six suspects at a suspected terrorist hideout in Imo.
Police also recovered firearms, stolen vehicles and other exhibits in separate operations across Oyo, Akwa Ibom and Sokoto.
The Force said investigations are ongoing in all the cases, while efforts continue to apprehend fleeing suspects and dismantle criminal networks nationwide.
