IGP Disu Redeploys Police Commissioners To Strengthen Security, Reform Agenda
Nigeria’s policing reforms received a fresh boost on Thursday as Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu approved a major redeployment of Commissioners of Police to state commands and strategic formations in a move aimed at improving operational effectiveness and enhancing public safety.
The deployment, approved by the Police Service Commission, saw eight Commissioners assigned to state commands, including CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo to Abia, CP Ayodeji Faniyan to Plateau, CP Saka Adewale Ajao to Bayelsa, CP Ajo Geofrey Ordue to Cross River, CP Nanna Oji Ama to Anambra, CP Patrick Daaor to Edo, CP Tani Murtala to Jigawa and CP Samuel Erale to Delta.
Several other senior officers were also posted to key departments and specialised units, including the Force Intelligence Department, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Counter Terrorism Unit, Police Academy, Police Staff College and the Department of Training and Development, as part of efforts to strengthen intelligence-led policing and institutional capacity.
IGP Disu urged the newly deployed officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by promoting professionalism, improving community engagement and upholding discipline and accountability while safeguarding lives and property.
The Nigeria Police Force said the strategic redeployments form part of its ongoing reform agenda designed to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen internal capacity and deliver more effective policing services across the country.
