Police Rescue 67 Kidnap Victims, Arrest Scores In Nationwide Crackdown

Nigeria Police recorded a string of security breakthroughs across 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory, rescuing dozens of kidnap victims, arresting suspected criminals and recovering firearms, illicit drugs and counterfeit currency in coordinated operations aimed at disrupting criminal networks.
According to the Force Headquarters’ operational summary for 29 July 2026, security operatives rescued 67 kidnap victims, including 32 victims in Sokoto, three abducted female students in Nasarawa, and a kidnapped victim along the Lagos–Ogun border. Police also arrested suspects linked to robbery, cultism, rape, defilement, fraud, electoral offences, vandalism and illegal arms manufacturing.
Among the major recoveries were 115 rounds of AK-47 ammunition in Benue, a locally made AK-47 rifle, counterfeit US dollars in Ekiti, large quantities of controlled drugs in the FCT, and over ₦4.8 million allegedly connected to electoral offences in Osun State.
The Force said investigations are continuing in the affected states, while efforts are underway to arrest fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal networks behind the offences.
