AIDS 2026 Spotlights Urgent Push To Keep Global HIV Response On Track

As the global fight against HIV faces mounting funding pressures, experts, researchers and world leaders are using the AIDS 2026 International AIDS Conference to highlight new scientific breakthroughs while warning that sustained political commitment is essential to prevent setbacks in the response.
The AIDS 2026 Virtual Media Centre has released a range of resources, including press releases from UN agencies, governments and research organisations, focusing on the latest HIV prevention, treatment and policy developments.
Key issues include the impact of funding cuts on HIV programmes, new research on long-acting HIV prevention, efforts to eliminate sexually transmitted infections, and renewed calls to tackle inequalities driving the epidemic.
The conference, taking place in Rio de Janeiro and online from 26 to 31 July, brings together scientists, policymakers, healthcare professionals, civil society groups and people living with HIV to shape the next phase of the global response.
Delegates also have access to scientific abstracts, press briefings and on-demand conference sessions through the virtual platform.
