Army Reinforces Frontline Operations As GOC Visits Troops Battling Lakurawa In Sokoto

The Nigerian Army has stepped up efforts to sustain pressure on terrorists in Sokoto State, with senior military commanders moving closer to the frontline to assess operations and boost troop morale.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Paul Bengba Koughna, on Thursday visited the Forward Operating Base in Sabon Birni and the Takasaba Outpost in Sabon Birni Local Government Area.

Accompanied by Commander 8 Division Garrison, Brigadier General AJ Mohammed, the GOC inspected operational positions and evaluated troops’ readiness in the ongoing campaign against the Lakurawa terrorist group.

Addressing the soldiers, Major General Koughna praised their professionalism and dedication, urging them to remain vigilant and sustain the offensive against criminal elements.

He also met with community members, assuring them of the Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property while encouraging residents to provide timely intelligence to support security operations.

The visit, completed without incident, forms part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s continued efforts to strengthen security and deny terrorists freedom of action across Nigeria’s North-West.
