Troops Foil Kidnap Attempt, Rescue Four Victims In Kebbi Border Community
A swift military response has saved four people from captivity after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA foiled a kidnap attempt by suspected terrorists in Surimi, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operation, carried out on Friday, 10 July 2026, followed credible intelligence that armed terrorists were abducting residents in the border community between Kebbi and Sokoto states.
Troops from the Forward Operating Base in Unashi immediately mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists in a gun battle.
Overwhelmed by the troops’ superior firepower, the terrorists fled into the surrounding bush, abandoning four kidnapped victims, who were rescued unharmed and later reunited with their families.
Military authorities said no casualties were recorded among the troops, describing the successful operation as another demonstration of Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s commitment to protecting lives and tackling insecurity across the North-West.
