Routine Police Patrol Leads To Recovery Of Stolen Motorcycle In Bauchi
A routine patrol targeting unregistered vehicles has paid off in Bauchi State, leading to the arrest of a suspected motorcycle thief and the recovery of a stolen bike.
Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command intercepted 28-year-old Hafiz Ahmad on Saturday, 4 July 2026, around Yelwan Kagadama in Bauchi metropolis while he was riding an unregistered black Jia Cheng motorcycle valued at ₦450,000.
According to the police, the suspect confessed during interrogation that he stole the motorcycle from Unguwar Kusu in the Yelwa area.
Further investigation led officers to the 23-year-old owner, who provided documents confirming ownership of the motorcycle.
The bike was subsequently returned to him.
Police said the suspect would be charged in court after the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their vigilance and urged residents to properly document their vehicles and report suspicious activities to the police.
