Anti-Doping Board Will Strengthen Nigeria’s Global Sporting Reputation – FCC Boss
Nigeria’s drive to restore confidence in its sporting system has received a boost, with the Federal Character Commission (FCC) describing the inauguration of the Technical Board of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre (NADC) as a major step towards safeguarding integrity and enhancing the country’s international sporting reputation.
The Executive Chairman of the FCC, Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for inaugurating the Board following the enactment of the National Anti-Doping Act, 2025.
Omidiran said the development reflects the government’s commitment to clean sports, transparency and compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code, adding that it aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda by promoting accountability and excellence across Nigeria’s sports sector.
According to her, protecting the integrity of sporting competitions is vital to sustaining public confidence, supporting youth development and strengthening Nigeria’s standing in global sports.
She also commended the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the National Assembly, the National Sports Commission and other stakeholders for their roles in establishing the statutory anti-doping institution.
Congratulating the Chairman and members of the Technical Board, Omidiran urged them to serve with professionalism, independence and fairness to protect clean athletes and reinforce Nigeria’s credibility on the international sporting stage.
