Six kidnap victims, including four women and two children, have regained their freedom after troops of the 17 Brigade, Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued them during an offensive operation in Ungwuan Doka, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victims were found on 29 June 2026 after terrorists reportedly abandoned them while fleeing intensified military operations targeting their hideouts.
Those rescued were identified as Umaima Isiaku (30), Amina Isiaku (25), Fatima Saidu (22), Huzaima Nasiru (16), and two children, Usman Surajo (1) and Dauda Isiaku (18 months).
According to preliminary findings, the victims were abducted on 11 March 2026 along the Tsafe-Bilbis Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. All are natives of Bilbis village.
The victims told troops they were left behind as sustained military offensives forced their captors to flee.
Military authorities said arrangements are underway to reunite the victims with their families while ensuring they receive the necessary care and support.
The operation is part of the ongoing campaign by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks across Nigeria’s North-West, rescue abducted persons and restore peace to affected communities.
