Tinubu’s MSME Awards Reinforce Commitment To Economic Growth, Says Information Minister
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) remain central to Nigeria’s economic recovery strategy, with the Federal Government reaffirming its commitment to supporting entrepreneurs through targeted policies and direct financial assistance.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the 2026 National MSME Awards reflect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s determination to position small businesses as the backbone of economic growth under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking after the awards ceremony in Abuja, Idris said the recognition of outstanding entrepreneurs demonstrates the administration’s resolve to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, create jobs and drive sustainable development.
He noted that beneficiaries had credited the government’s support and policy direction for boosting confidence in the MSME sector.
The Minister also welcomed the disbursement of over ₦1 billion in grants to more than 1,000 beneficiaries, describing the direct cash support as a practical step towards helping entrepreneurs expand their businesses, increase production and generate employment.
Representing Vice President Kashim Shettima at the event, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, said replacing material prizes with grants of between ₦500,000 and ₦3 million would provide businesses with the working capital needed to grow and contribute more effectively to Nigeria’s economy.
